Charity Shoal (version 2)

Description: A bathymetric map of a meteorite crater on the floor of Lake Ontario. This raster image was created from raw sonar point data, and then pan-sharpened with its own hillshade. Created for my father, a renowned Great Lakes geologist, as part of an upcoming paper on the feature. The data is property of the Canadian Hydrographic Service and this image may not be redistributed.

Bathymetry of Northwestern Gulf of Mexico

Description: Originally, this map was produced by Texas A&M Oceanography as a Triangular Irregular Network (TIN). At this size and scale, a TIN is too large to handle and transfer, so I replicated the visual impact of the TIN by layering rasters images created from the TIN. Original image size is much larger.

Shear Strength of the Texas-Louisiana Continental Shelf

Description: This unique geologic map of near-surface sediment shear strengths was an attempt to recreate the functionality of ArcGIS layers using only Adobe Illustrator layers. This was done largely to take advantage of GMT’s superior contour drawing capabilities. Document was completed as part of a project coordinated by the US Minerals Management Service and the Offshore Technology Research Center at Texas A&M.
